A Show of Hands

Myra gave her sister food poisoning. Joe and Clara have family secrets. Jon is a Karate black belt, Ruth wants to be a psychiatrist and Willow's life is run by her mama. When they're forced to wait in a room together for a crucial piano competition to begin and the judges are late, the stories and personalities of these young adults emerge.

They begin the play as strangers, each focused on winning the twenty five thousand dollar prize. But when Willow is unjustly disqualified from the competition, unexpected alliances form. Slowly, sharp boundaries blur and the individuals come together in protest, each trading their chance to compete for the prize in exchange for standing up for what is right.
